It’s January 4th and I think that I forgot to wish you a Merry Christmas! I’m always amazed at how quickly the season flies by, aren’t you? Well except for today. Today was the longest day ever. But that’s simply because someone decided the day should end with the world’s longest meltdown.
Without further ado, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
Did you send out Christmas cards this year? I did it again – I wrote up a bunch of them and they’re still sitting here. Nerdguy told me not to even do them, but I couldn’t let it go. But then once Christmas is over I completely lose the will to have anything to do with it. It’s a good thing that Santa and his elves have a better handle on their ADHD than the people running this workshop. Although we did get our gifts all wrapped up on the 23rd this year. That is no small miracle. And we’re going to just agree that 3am on the 24th is still the 23rd. I have enough friends in BC that I should at least get to borrow their time zone once in awhile.
Were you one of the lucky families to be hit by the stomach bug that was circulating this year? Maggie was off sick for most of the week leading up to Christmas, and then it hit Grace right before the big day. Between that and the ice storm I was feeling very disorganized in the lead-up to Christmas. But I am very thankful that we never lost power – so many people did, and it must have been extra difficult to deal with that at Christmas. In the end we had some schedule juggling, and a whole lot of just doing nothing, and we were lucky enough to have a beautiful Christmas.
Three of them actually.
We didn’t do anything for New Year’s Eve this year because we took off on a road trip on New Year’s Day to the American Girl store in Columbus, Ohio. I’ll fill you in on our trip this week, but it was lots of fun.
We got back late last night and have been chilling all day today trying to soak in our last bit of laziness for awhile. It’s back to speech for Maggie tomorrow, and then we are staring down the barrel of early morning wake-ups, appointments and lunch packing on Monday.
We’re all pulling for a snow day.
Happy New Year!!! I hope this is going to be a fantastic year for all of us!
